PostSecret
PostSecret
In November, 2004 a man named Frank Warren printed 3,000 postcards inviting people to to tell him something they had never told anyone before. He handed these postcards out at subway stations, left them in art galleries, and slipped them between pages of library books.
The postcards began to trickle in with the most astounding, colorful, and creative content imaginable.
This phenomena has earned Frank Warren the unofficial title of the most trusted stranger in America.
Many of the postcards have been published in one of three volumes - the first published in 2005, and the latest near the end of 2007. The postcards also make up an immensely popular traveling art project.
I love to visit Warren’s website where he puts up new postcards frequently. Some make you laugh out loud...
...others will make you weep.
Visiting the site reminds me that I am surrounded by people who desperately want to be known, but instead choose to hide. It reminds me that very few people find the acceptance they crave. It also inspires me to do everything I can to create environments where people can tell the truth about themselves.
